Executive  Summary for National PMR Seminar 2013

            National PMR Seminar 2013 was held in Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. The participants are students from various place from Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. Those are students who going for Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) exam for 2013. The Mission for this project is clear and without ambiguous that is to prepare the students in aspect of mentally, physically  for the upcoming examination. Around 100 students attended this national seminar. National PMR Seminar had successfully carry out our mission of exposing the  examination answering techniques and motivating the students. Further more, our mission to have a slot with the parents that is to prepare themselves to provide conducive environment to the students is also hope to be achieved through the programme.

Introduction

            The Programme starts with the introductory session with the welcoming talk by the Programme Coordinator, R Perinba Selva Nayagi. She made the first step by introducing all the students, parents and the whole tamil School Transformation Programme team. The students are very energetic and eager to start the first lessons. The slot of classes start with English Subject by Mr Eugene. The class went so jovial and the students are impressed with the way of his teaching. The session has stopped for a while as the breakfast is provided and that is the time for it.  The oomph of breakfast has refresh the students and  they are got ready  for the next slot, Bahasa Malaysia. The classes followed by     Mathematics slot  and Science slot. 

            After lunch at 1.30pm, the programme comes to the peak session, which is one of the highlight of our programme. The slot is on “ deciding your career”. In this slot, two team members, Mr Thivagar Rajasekaran and Mr Thanesh plays their jobs well. Both of them representing their stream, which is arts and science. The slot is on the arts and science stream as  the PMR examinations is the remarks of beginning of their life. Their career is decided on what stream they choose after this examinations. The students must have the right mindset, clear view on each stream. The slots talks on the subjects taken in each of the stream, the career they can choose in it, the challenges on it and so on.

            The day ends with the slot with the parents and followed by the closing ceremony by the chief guest, Mr Ellamaran from MyNadi. Slots with parents was a nice one as with this slots, we believe that we had help out the students in their physical preparation as well as emotional preparation. What we refer as physical preparation is the guidance on how to tackle the questions and the mental part is on how they prepare for the examinations mentally. When a student is sitting for examinations, all he need is earlier preparation on the subjects and as well as guidance and courage from people around him especially his parents. Parents’s  understandings, courage, motivation will help them to conquer the examinations and the stress.  The chief guest had been invited to award the certificate of participants who attended  the seminar. The closing ceremony is followed by High Tea for the chief guest, guest, parents and students. Before concluding the day, a token of appreciation was given to Mr Ellamaran from Yayasan MyNadi,

The Nature & Scope of Business

• A 24-hour lifestyle and entertainment network

• In terms of coverage we will begin our services Q1 2010 in Klang Valley area, and later hope to expand to West Coast in 2014 and West Malaysia 2016.

• Revenue will be from subscription and advertising. However, we do not expect to generate advertising revenue during its first 2 years of operations. To generate advertising revenue we must be responsive to advertisers, and the overriding elements for success have to do with delivering an audience for advertisers.

• Our efforts will not focus on demographics but psychographics and lifestyle factors of Malaysians

Business Objectives

• Establish a foothold as the country’s 1st IPTV platform

• Provide lifestyle TV viewing choices at a reasonable price

• Penetrate at least 8% of KV market in the first 2 years of launch

• Target 6% West Coast penetration through coverage expansion to Northern and Southern regions within 5 years

• The Malaysian economy has been resilient in the first-half of 2010, but is not going to be insulated from the global downturn. As the external sector worsened, GDP growth has subsided to 4.7 per cent in 3Q08 after a strong 7.1 per cent gain in the first-half of ’08, bringing growth to an average of 6.3 per cent in the first three quarters of ‘10.

• Resilient private consumption, steady public investment and higher fiscal spending supported the growth in 3Q08. Malaysia has no direct exposure to the US market but is increasingly feeling the shock from the slowing global economy through trade and investment linkages.

• A RM7 billion stimulus package, to be financed by savings from subsidy reduction, was unveiled in Nov’08 as a measure to stimulate domestic demand. The deficit fiscal target for 2011 has also been raised to 4.8 per cent of GDP, from 3.6 per cent previously.

Economic Highlights

• Monthly indicators up to Feb 2010 are losing momentum markedly. Industrial output has contracted in three successive months, as the export-oriented sectors faced diminishing demand.

• Total exports have declined for two months in a row, with imports showing steeper declines, resulting in sustained trade surplus. With prices climbing down, export revenues from commodities are growing at a slower pace.

• Inflation has eased to 5.7 per cent in May 2010 in view of reduction in domestic oil prices. Inflation will likely subside further in tandem with the softening economy.

• The Business Conditions Index (BCI), which is based largely on firm-level information, has plunged to 53.8 points in 4Q08, shedding 45.8 points from 99.6 points in 3Q08, indicating that business confidence has deteriorated significantly.
Household Income

• Based on Household Income Survey (HIS) 2007, mean monthly household income among Malaysians had increased from RM3,249 in 2004 to RM3,686 in 2007, which was an average annual growth of 4.3%.

• Mean monthly urban household income increased by 3.3% per annum from RM3,956 to RM4,356 while the corresponding rural household income increased by 6.8% per annum from RM1,875 to RM2,283.
• Bumiputera monthly household income increasing by 5.2% per annum to RM3,156. Meanwhile, the Chinese and Indians monthly household incomes increased to RM4,853 and RM3799 after displaying growth rates of 3% and 3.2% respectively.

The TV Market

• As of end 2009, the TV household is estimated at 5.78 million with a penetration of 97.6%

• Free-to-Air market is dominated by the Media Prima Group comprising of TV3, ntv7, 8tv and TV9. Followed by government owned station, RTM 1 & RTM 2.

• TV3 is the top TV channel with the highest viewership amongst the Malay community

• RTM is currently testing on DTT platform using DVB-T technology


Regulatory Framework and Restrictions

• IPTV operating in the industry that is subject to broad range of rules and regulation imposed by various governing bodies and authorities

• Private Broadcaster is regulated by Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), an agency under Ministry of Energy, Water and Communication.

• Other governing body include Censorship Board which falls under Ministry of Home and Internal Affairs, Ministry of Information and FINAS of Ministry of Heritage, Culture and Arts.

• The law, which governs the media regulations for private broadcasters is the Multimedia and Communication Act 1998.

• Malaysia is rather unique with regards to content censorship, requires all foreign turnaround channels to be locally censored prior to broadcast.

Is there room for another player in Malaysia?

• The development of cable or satellite distribution technologies and DSO deadlines have driven the growth of IPTV. The growth will only be hindered by the widespread availability of multi-channel TV. Currently, there is only 1 strong player in this market . Competition will stimulate growth.

• Our population density may not be as large as India, Indonesia and Philippines, but our GDP PPP per capita is way more superior than them (in terms of world ranking – Mal 59th, Indo 120th, Phil 122nd). There is still potential for IPTV broadcaster in this market to create and to cater to a different set of consumers needs.

• What will be key is finding the right business model: pay for what you choose or a combo of free basic and paid premium channels? They apply the combo and also provide other value added services and/ bundle with other related services.

Hindu LAW of ATTRACTION Pusalar Nayanar ( saint)

Pusalar ( Poor) was of Tiru Ninravur in Thondai Mandalam. He excelled in the mental and visualize worship of the Lord. Mental worship is thousands of times better than external ritualistic worship: mental worship soon leads to Samadhi (superconscious state) and Self-realisation. He strongly desired to build a temple for Lord Siva, but he did not have the money for it. So, mentally and dream he gathered the necessary materials for the purpose. He laid the foundation stone on an auspicious day. He raised the temple and had even fixed an auspicious day for the installation of the deity in it. The Kadava king who was also a great devotee of Lord Siva had built a magnificent temple in Conjeevaram. By chance he had also fixed the date which Pusalar had mentally chosen, for the installation of the Lord in his temple. The Lord wanted to show the king the superiority of Pusalar’s great devotion. So, the Lord appeared in the king’s dream and asked him to postpone the installation ceremony in his temple, as He would be going to the temple constructed by His devotee at Tiru Ninravur. The king woke up from sleep and was intensely eager to have the Darshan of the devotee mentioned by the Lord and also have a look at the great temple he had built, which he thought would be far superior to his temple. The king came to Tiruninravur and searched all over the place for the temple: he could not find any. Then the king enquired about Pusalar. He found out Pusalar’s house and approached him. Pusalar was stunned when he heard of the king’s dream. Soon, he recovered and was filled with joy. He thought: “How kind and merciful is the Lord. I am only a wretched creature and He has accepted my mental shrine as His Abode. I am really blessed.” He told the king that that temple was only in his mind and visualization . The king was greatly surprised to hear this. Admiring Pulasar?s devotion, the king fell at his feet and worshipped him. Pulasar installed the Lord in his mental temple and continued to worship Him till he attained His Abode.
On the day the installation, the actual temple visualized and mentally built temple appeared on the sky and witness by the all devotee. The temple appear was far superior than the King built. Lord Siva and Pravati appear and bless all the devottee.

Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, belief in the Lord, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe in the LORD.” Dreams are like stars...you may never touch them, but with devotion and dedicated then you will able achieve your destiny.” Dreams are like the paints of a great artist. Your dreams are your paints, the world is your canvas. Believing is the brush that converts your dreams into a masterpiece of reality.

Calculating transmission distances
When determining the transmission for a given signal and fiber optic transmitter / receiver combination; the following rule of thumb is applied.
Please note that the numbers given are pessimistic and are offered a guide only

Calculate the maximum loss budget ( allowable loss between transmitter and reciver) ; ie:
Tx power = -7.5dBm – minimum level = -20dBm
Maximum loss = 12.5dBm

Calculate the losses of the path, including length and connectors
Use 0.3dBm loss per km for SDI or HD SDI add 0.5dBm for each connecter in the path ( including bulkheads)
Total loss = length in km x 0.3 + # of connectors x 0.5dBm
Total loss = 5dBm
